Desks
arrange your ideas
Thoughts rarely arrive in order. They come in pieces. At odd moments.
Piet's desks are where you can collect and arrange them until they make sense. Create individual desks to structure your ideas, writing, research, projects. Whatever comes to your mind that deserves being captured.
Cards
One thought to a card
A card is the smallest fragment Piet keeps. A sentence you don't want to lose. A picture that inspires you. A quote to prove your idea. A question you're still chewing on. Move them around your desks and set them in the order that fits your thinking—so scattered thoughts turn into clear ideas.
Notes
Room to develop a thought
When thoughts outgrow a card, Piet's note editor gives them room. Write an insight. A story. An argument. A decision. A plan. Write from the thoughts you've gathered—so a deskful of fragments becomes a train of thought.
Features
New!!! Quick capture
Copy text or an image in any app and save it to Piet's inbox with hotkey ⌃⌥⌘C. No app switching involved. Prefer another shortcut? Set your own under Services.
New!!! Custom backgrounds
Give each desk its own image, to match your mood, spark an idea, or just for the joy of it. Adjust opacity and blur so your cards stay easy to read.
Tell your desks apart
Name your desks, drag them for sorting and tag them by color, so the one you need is easy to spot.
Just enough formatting
Notes have full formatting. Cards keep it simple — text, image or links, with a few shortcuts to apply structure and style. Enough to shape your thought, without pulling your focus.
Notes across every desk
Keep notes per desk, create as many as you like, and access them seamlessly over any desk. Switch to full-view to stay focused on your thinking and writing.
Your data
Piet is local-only to keep your most personal thoughts safe: no cloud, no account, no tracking. Works fully offline on your Mac.
Nothing's locked in
Copy a card or a note and paste it anywhere. Piet provides both Markdown and rich text, so the app you paste into gets the right format.
No AI, on purpose
We believe in the power of your own thoughts. That is why Piet provides focus and privacy: no AI will finish your sentences or summarize your thinking away.
